Our view: visible labels are the main reason to consider a shortcut pad. Start with a layout you can understand at a glance, rather than filling every key with a complicated automation.
Choose a small first layout
Try four routine actions first: open a working folder, launch a frequently used application, insert a standard phrase and trigger one supported app command. Keep the remaining keys free until a repeated task earns a place. Test each action separately before combining actions.
Check the exact integration
Elgato lists Windows and macOS support. Confirm your operating-system version, application and required plugin before buying. The existence of a button does not mean the service you want can be controlled by it.
